AND HIS NAME IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD.
Revelation 19:11-13;
“And I saw heaven opened,and behold a white horse;and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew,but he himself.
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:and his name is called The Word of God.
Did you ever ask yourself why Jesus did not identify himself here by his name which we all know and are used to;but rather referred to himself as The Word of God?This name bears a deep meaning behind it,which many Christians do not know.
When we mention the name ‘JESUS’ ,we refer to Jesus who is two-way.He is Jesus in person and Jesus as the Word.
Unfortunately,many of us know Jesus just as a person.We know how powerful he was,his authority, might and the wonderful things he did.We know him as one who was crucified, died and buried; and that he resurrected and ascended into heaven.We also know that he now sits enthroned at the right hand of God, and has been given authority over all things.This is good indeed.For it’s through such knowledge of Christ that we believe in him and receive salvation and healing upon our lives.
Yet it’s wrong when we just recognize him as a person while we do not care about knowing him as the Word.
What does it mean by Jesus being the Word?This is Jesus himself in the words he taught while he was on earth.If today,you can live 100% a life that is fully committed to Christ,you become Christ-like.Such that you can do things without necessarily having to call on Jesus for help.
Most Christians get a good impression of Jesus when they read or hear about him but do not want to be like him.The reason is because I find it difficult to live by the the words of Jesus.
They are like a student who just depends on the use of a calculator to do his calculations.But he/she has no idea what happens behind the the calculator.
One who knows well the law of using a calculator, he/she is usually a very apt and clever learner.They can still solve the mathematical problems without the calculator.They will only need it to make their work easier and to save time,though they can as well do them without it.
Although it may also mean that the learner in the second case will have to go to school ,in order to study the key and basic concepts in Mathematics.Unlike the first,who only relies on the use of a calculator,but does not have the knowledge of maths in his head.
Christians who depend on Jesus as a person and not the Word,behave this way.They treat him like a calculator: calling upon him for help but do not obey what he says.
We should not just depend on the Lord Jesus to come and help us always.He also, sometimes,expects us to do it ourselves.He had taught this same principle to his disciples,who had always been fond of relying on him at first, but did not obey his words.
Matthew 17:17;
“Then Jesus answered and said,O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.”
There are times we call upon Jesus come and help,yet he does not answer.No matter how much we pray and cry unto him day and night,he remains silent.Why?It is because we have refused to live by his Words.
Take for instance,a Christian who prays and makes a fast oftenly, asking God to bless them with material wealth,but he/she continues to live in sin.Another does live righteously,and obeys the Word of God which says:
Matthew 6:32-33;
“(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”
The second person may not even mention Jesus or wealth in his prayer,but at the end of the day,hi or she will receive whatever they want.Because he knows and understands the spiritual rule which is obedience.For the first one,it is up to Jesus and not themselves.Therefore,he/she may or may not receive whatever they asked for.
Let us learn to obey and live the words of Jesus.For instance,when we are asked to forgive others, and not to commit adultery, let’s beware that it’s Jesus as the Word.
Jesus said that if his words remain in us, whatever we wish shall be done for us by our Father who is in heaven.
John 15:7;
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
God bless you.
