OUR ACTIONS ARE MEASURED IN THE SCALES
IF you read in the Bible you will find the place where the Lord was saying these words…
1 Kings 16:25 ” But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.”
1 Kings 16:30 ” And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him.
You will see that King Omri did worse than his fathers before him… and he comes to have a son named Ahab and he does worse than he and all his predecessors… worse than Father and grandfather.
Now you may be wondering why the Lord put the word “and he did worse than all who came before him”? .. The answer is because our actions are measured against those of our predecessors.
If the father kills one person and his child kills two people that means that the burden of the child is twice of his Father … i.e. if they were placed in the scales then the burden of the child is greater than that of the Father.
In the same way, if a child does better than his father, then his deeds, if put on the scales, will appear to be more than his father… and if his father has done better than him then the deeds of his father in the heavenly scales are heavier than those of a child, and so the child will appear less.
That is what happened to King Belshazzar of Babylon… This king even though he knew the deeds that the God of Israel did to his Father… but still his actions were worse than his father… And his goodness seemed less than the good of his Father in the heavenly scales. For her Father had given honor to God, but he had not honored him and went to take his holy vessels and use them for his adultery supper.
And the Lord spoke these words to him.
Daniel 5:27 “TEKEL, thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.”
It means that the good deeds his father did were more than his… The Lord God relied on the deeds that he would do more than his father but on the contrary they diminished, and so he judged him.
The Bible says..
2 Samuel 2: 3 “Do not boast in the same manner. Let not arrogancy come out of your mouth; For the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.”
Brethren our deeds are weighed on a daily basis like those of others our generation is weighed against the scales of the previous generations.
Matthew 12:41 “The people of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it; because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.”
Where we live, where we work we are measured… everything we do is measured compared to that of others. Even the life we live as Christians is measured that’s why the Lord Jesus said in..
Matthew 5:20 “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
When you wear trousers a daughter of God who was born in a Christian environment, maybe even your father is a Pastor and you say you go to heaven… remember there is someone like you somewhere your age somewhere who is better than you and shapely than you but they don’t wear as you, although all circumstances allow her to do so… he has overcome the difficult circumstances of many temptations but you have failed in the simplest circumstances, Know your love for God is measured .
When you fail to seek God for your work you do only 8 hours a day, and say you are too busy… remember there is someone more busy than you who works 10 hours somewhere but does not lack worship, nor does he miss the time to pray and pray and read the Word… even though he is tired than you… Know that your love is measured!
So this brethren is a time to test ourselves before he is tested us and to make evaluation for ourselves.
Job 31: 5-6
5. That I have walked in vanity, and have set my foot on deceit;
6. Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.
May God bless us.
