YOUR HANDS ARE FULL OF BLOOD.
Solomon was able to tell, through the Spirit’s inspiration,the seven things which are detestable to God.And among them are “hands that shed innocent blood.”(Proverbs 6:17)
The Bible contains several instances in which God is seen rebuking his people against the sin of shedding blood.For example,God says in:
Isaiah 1:15-17;
“And when ye spread forth your hands,I will hide mine eyes from you:yea,when ye make many prayers,I will not hear: YOUR HANDS ARE FULL OF BLOOD.
Wash you,make you clean:put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes;cease to do evil;
Learn to do well,seek judgment, relieve the oppressed,judge the fatherless plead for the widow.”
Also read Ezekiel 9:9.
In several other places of the Bible, whenever God saw his people,he saw their hands stained with blood.(Isaiah 59:3, Jeremiah 22:3, Ezekiel 23:37,45.)
Consequently,one could easily think that the Israelites were murderers by nature;killing others or perhaps one another anyhow.But this is not so.
The Israelites themselves did not understand what God meant when he warned them against the shedding of innocent blood.However,when the Lord Jesus came,he revealed to us in the new testament, what God really implied in relation to this.
Let’s read 1 John 3:15;
“Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer:and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”
He explained everything pertaining to a person of this kind, and the fact that he or she deserves punishment,just like one who has committed an offense by shedding another’s blood.
Matthew 5:22;
“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment:and whosoever shall say to his brother,Raca, shall be in danger of the council:but whosoever shall say,Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”
Therefore, know that we may be good teachers of the Word,good shepherds , servants or also be good at praying,but we could be seen before God as being dangerous people.We could be seen as being chronic offenders,with our hands full of blood.God could see us as ones holding weapons such as knives, machetes or axes, killing many souls every day.?Why?It is because of the hatred we harbor in our hearts against others.
When we hold grudges or harbor resentment,God sees us as deserving punishment in the fire of hell.Even our offerings are regarded as detestable to God.Thus,God asks us first to go and be reconciled to our brothers/neighbours,then we can offer our gifts to him thereafter.
Let us learn to let go every hurt or evil deed so that we may not be murderers before God.The antidote for this is reading and meditating on the Word of God.The Bible is a cure to our body and soul.It offers us counsel,gives us comfort,instruction, reproof, and so much more.If you are defeated or overcome with the challenge of keeping grudges,beware your level of meditating on God’s Word is down.
When we read the Word,for example,the scripture in Matthew 8:22,there is a lesson we learn from this.We realize what it means to forgive and the importance of forgiveness.Forgiving is more than just letting go of everything.It is not just about accepting and forgetting.It is not pretending that it did not happen.Forgiveness involves personally choosing to let go of the past and releasing a debt regardless of how you feel.
For this reason,we are supposed to forgive others no matter how much they have wronged us.Then we shall be worthy to approach or draw near to God and he will bless us.
Job 17:9;
“The righteous also shall hold on his way,and he that hath clean hands shall grow stronger and stronger.”
May God help us to sanctify ourselves in order that our hands may be without blood.Like his lamb,Jesus Christ.
Shalom.
