DOES GOD MOCK PEOPLE?

Does God deride men, according to Proverbs 1:26 and Psalm 59:8?

Yes!He does not only mock them but he also afflicts and grieves them as well.However,his purpose for doing this is far different from ours.

People mock their fellow men so as to humiliate, dishearten or to silence them.But God does not mock men with the intention of humiliating or making them miserable.His aim is to make us realize and be ashamed of our sins,and thereafter turn from them and sincerely repent.When we have repented and abandoned our evil ways, God then floods our troubled hearts with comfort and joy.Thus, the Bible says;

Proverbs 1:23-26:

“Turn at my reproof:behold,I will pour out my spirit unto you,I will make known my words unto you.

Because I have called, and ye refused;I have stretched out my hand,and no man regarded;

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

I will also laugh at your calamity;I will mock when your fear cometh.”

Do you want to be mocked by God when the day of your disaster or trouble comes?Are you still waiting to be laughed at by God when calamity overtakes you?

If not,renounce your sins and keep away from the worldly things.They are what keep God’s face from us.But there’s good news!The Lord does not find pleasure in our grief and afflictions.But he’s intentional toward making us miserable through conviction and joyful through confession.

Lamentations 3:31-33:

“For the Lord will cast not off for ever:

But he cause grief,yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.”
