CONSEQUENCES OF NOT KNOWING THE WHOLE TRUTH.
There are very serious consequences of not knowing the whole truth. You might know the truth but not all the truth. Many people do know the truth ,but not all truth. This gives the devil a chance to cause destruction.
Let’s consider an example of two people in the Bible who knew the truth but not all the truth.
1.)KING ABIMELECH
Abraham told King ABIMELECH that Sarah was ‘his sister’.Even though he did not tell Abimelech that Sarah was “his wife” too.Abraham was worried that the people would see how beautiful his wife was and kill him to get her.
In this case, Abraham did not lie to King Abimelech, since Sarah was indeed his half-sister.They shared the same father ,but different mothers. In that case, Abraham had not actually deceived the king. It’s just that he suppressed only a part of the truth. And the end result of this was to bring Abimelech into danger of being killed by God.
Genesis 20:1
“And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south county, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, sojourned in Gerar.
2.)And Abraham said of Sarah his wife,She is my sister; And Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
3.)But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art a dead man,for the woman which thou hast taken; for she’s a man’s wife.
4.)But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said,Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
5.)Said he not unto me, She is my sister?and she even she herself said,He is my brother:in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
6.)And God said unto him in a dream,Yea,I know that thou didst this in the integrity of your heart;for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered thee not to touch her.
7.)Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live:and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are mine.
8.) Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all those things in their ears:and the men were so afraid.
9.)Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him,What hast thou done unto us?and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin?thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place;and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.
And yet indeed she is my sister:she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother;and she became my wife.”
EVE
Eve was told the truth by Satan, but not the whole truth. She was told that by eating the fruit,’she would be like God’, knowing good and evil. This is true. When she ate of the fruit, she, indeed became like God.For she knew both good and evil.
Genesis 3:22 ;
“And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us,to know good and evil, and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat,and live for ever.”
Satan did tell her all the truth.Though by eating the fruit Eve would be like God,yet the devil did not tell her that this would in the end lead to unending, hopeless existence separated from God due to disobedience. This he did not dare tell Eve because Satan knew that by telling her the whole truth, the woman would never have eaten of the fruit.
Have you noted the consequences of not knowing the whole truth? It almost led to Abimelech being killed by God.Similarly,it also led to Eve’s fall whose consequences we still see today.
Even in the present times,Satan still does the same.He tells truth to people, but not all the truth. And many pin their hopes on this truth. They do not seek to know the whole truth.
For instance, the Scriptures,in John 5:24 says that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus has crossed over from death to life.
John 5:24;”Verily, Verily,I say unto you,He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me,hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;BUT IS PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE.”
This is sure truth.Yet the whole truth says that we must be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit, and thereafter live Godly lives.
This therefore points out clearly that it’s not just enough to believe in the Lord Jesus. However,we are to undergo baptism and be filled with the Holy Spirit. It does not end here.We are also urged to live holy lives if we have to see God.
Hebrews 12:14;”Follow peace with all men, AND HOLINESS , WITHOUT WHICH NO MAN SHALL SEE THE LORD.”
Knowing the truth should not just be in the matters of salvation only, but also in all the areas of our daily lives. Many people believe that God looks at the heart, which is very true, but absolute truth. The whole truth says,
Romans 12:1;”I beseech you therefore, brethren,by the mercies of God,that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
It also says,
1 Corinthians 6:19;”What know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God,and ye are not your own?”
Therefore we ought not to defile our bodies through acts such as drunkenness, skin piercing, painting/tattooing,or through indecent attire.
You may ask how you could get to know the whole truth. Thanks be to God , for the gift of the Holy Spirit whom He has outpoured unto us.He is the solution to all things.
John 16:13;”Howbeit when he,the Spirit of truth,is come,he will guide you into all truth.”
Do you want to know the will of God in it’s fullness..Do you want to know the truth concerning your spiritual and physical life?Seek the Holy Spirit. You may ask,how can I receive the Holy Spirit? The Bible is clear on this;it is by repenting and being baptized.
Acts 2:37-39;”Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles,Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Then Peter said unto them,Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
God bless you.
