Matthew 12:25-32;”And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
And if I by Beelzebul cast out devils,by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God,then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man?and then he will spoil his house.
He that is not with me is against me, and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.”
From the scripture above,it is clear that every mighty work that the Lord Jesus did was by the power of God’s Spirit.Even casting out demons. Although the Pharisees knew it,yet they out of envy spoke blasphemous statements against him.In order that they may delude the people and turn their hearts from believing in Jesus, the Pharisees claimed that Jesus cast out demons by Beelzebul the prince of the demons. While they knew full well that the Lord performed miracles by the power of God’s Spirit.
This truth is revealed through the words of Nicodemus, one of the Pharisees, when he came to Jesus at night. It clearly depicts that they knew by what power Jesus was working miracles.
John 3:1-2;” There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi,”WE KNOW” THAT THOU ART A TEACHER COME FROM GOD:NO MAN CAN DO THESE MIRACLES THAT THOU DOEST, EXCEPT GOD BE WITH HIM.”
This means that the Pharisees knew that all the wonderful things the Lord Jesus was doing were by the power of the Holy Spirit. But they spoke falsely concerning the workings of the Holy Spirit. This is now what it means to blaspheme.
As we watch and or encounter the mighty and wonderful signs and miracles the Holy Spirit does through his servants, let’s be careful lest we invite God’s judgment upon ourselves. It is dangerous or rather blasphemous to mock, dishearten, humiliate or spread falsehood against those we know well are God’s true servants, and that what they do and say is influenced by the Spirit of God himself. In the case of false ministers, it is right for us to expose and bring into light their evil motives for our own good. But it should not be so with those who are true servants of the Lord. You never know how many souls could be won unto Jesus through this people.
The sin of blasphemy takes into account those who are opposed to God’s works with intent (the likes of the Pharisees.)No matter what they cannot feel again the urge prompting them to repent nor will they be forgiven of their sins. All that awaits them is to be destroyed in the lake fire forever.
However, Satan is fond of using this scripture to bind many and make them think they blasphemed the Holy Spirit. And that their sins cannot be forgiven unto them. There are many testimonies of people who have been kept captive by Satan in this way and believed that their sins cannot be forgiven. Some have given up since they feel that because of their many sins,God cannot have mercy on them.
When such thoughts enter your mind,do not fight them.Just ignore and refuse to entertain it.They are from the devil who targets to make feel like you have blasphemed against the Holy Spirit, and therefore can’t be forgiven of your sins.
As mentioned earlier, this sin holds on those who are rebellious and can no longer be repentant, having no fear of God.Their thoughts are ever hostile towards God, even though they once knew him and the fullness of his power. They misrepresent God’s works and always seek to draw people from believing in God, and rather delude them by their false teachings.
The very feeling that prompts the fear of God within and urges you to repent of your sins is a sign that the Holy Spirit is working in you.Resist the thoughts directed to you by the Enemy who targets to keep you from accessing God’s grace and mercy. For he uses this same scripture to bind many under oppression.
Be so much blessed.
